Before becoming Chief Executive Officer of the organization in 2014, Rick Smith had been gaining knowledge and experience through other distinguished positions. He was the President and Chief Operating Officer for Eschelon Telecom Inc. and prior to that he was their Chief Financial Officer. He began his career with Global Crossing in 1972 to 1998 where he diligently worked his way up the corporate ladder through many positions including Chief Information Officer, Network Plant Operations Director, and Vice President of Financial Management. He earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Rochester’s Simon School, a Masters Degree in Mathematics from State University of New York at Brockport, as well as obtaining from the Rochester Institute of Technology a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
